become a trusteeCitizens Advice Oxford are looking for new people to join our team as Trustees.

The Trustees are a group of volunteers who use their skills, knowledge and experience to help guide and govern Citizens Advice Oxford, located in central Oxford.

We meet regularly both remotely and on line, as appropriate. We work with the Chief Officer, staff and volunteers to discuss issues that face the service, we set the strategy and provide guidance, including making sure:

  • We are doing what we are meant to be doing to offer high quality accessible advice services that meet the needs of the citizens of Oxford city;
  • Our service is recognised and valued by local people, organisations and funders;
  • That we comply with laws and regulations, have appropriate premises, insurances and recruit and train staff and volunteers;
  • We have the money we need to meet current and future demands and that funds are properly managed.

Within the board, some trustees have a specific role, such as chair or treasurer or secretary which have defined responsibilities, others will have a more general role. There are committees which offer an opportunity to get involved in more detail in areas of interest, such as strategy, finance and risk, policy, HR and governance. For a complete description of what we ask from all of our trustees, please click the button that says “Read Full Role Description”.

We are currently looking to recruit approximately three Trustees and invite people with an interest in the work that Citizens Advice undertakes. We are genuinely looking to recruit people who have professional and/or life experience which reflects the service and area in which we operate. We believe that greater diversity in all areas of our service will deliver the best outcomes for those who use our service.
